1926 - Founded by a group of local businessmen. Known as "Singapore Chinese Furniture Board"
1939 - Association temporarily disbanded during Second World War
1946 - Revived under the name "Singapore Furniture Dealer's Association"
1964 - First Furniture Fair held at Aljunied Housing Estate and was awarded a commemorative certificate by the First President of Singapore Mr. Yusof Ishak.
1977 - Renamed as "Singapore Furniture Manufacturer's & Trader's Association"
1978 - One of the pioneer study group to Taiwan.
1978 - Represented Singapore in AFIA - Association of Furniture Industries in Asia (now known as CAPFA - Council of the Asia Pacific Furniture Association)
1983 - Organised the first Asia Pacific Furniture Fair, which achieved huge success and became a household name. It was then held annually.
1984 - Trade mission to Beijing
1989 - Set up its own Association house in 16C, NTWU Building Geylang Lorong 37.
1992 - Trade Mission to Shanghai.
1993 - Trade study to Los Angeles, USA (with the assistance from the then PSB)
1994 - Study Mission to Japan.
1994 - Supported by the then PSB now known as SPRING Singapore spearheaded the first ever successful economic grouping in Singapore - The Furniture Mall.
1995 - Association was again renamed to "Singapore Furniture Association". Group visit cum sourcing trip to Jarkarta, Indonesia.
1995 - Group Visit to Milan International Fair
1995 - Host country for 6th CAPFA Director Meeting on 7th March
1996 - Participated and presented a paper at Multi-Country Study Mission on Furniture Industry organized by Asia Productivity at Bangkok, Thailand
1997 - Visit to 1997 International Furniture Fair Tokyo
1997 - Furniture & Interior Renovations Advisory Committee (FIRAC) was formed to provide members with alternative means of dispute resolution.
1998 - Official Launch of FIRAC Quality Service Scheme
 
1998 - Study Mission to Guangzhou, China
1998 - Interaction with foreign delegates from German Industry & Commerce
1999 - Host country for 12th CAPFA Directors' Meeting on 5th March
1999 - Signing of Memorandum of Understanding between SFA and Casetrust
2001 - Visit by delegation from U.S and Mexico.
2002 - Awarded ISO 9001 Certification
2002 - Trade mission to Tokyo, Japan
2003 - Launch of the new Singapore Furniture Association Logo
2004 - Launch of the SFA Website
2004 - Signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CASE
MOU signed on 8 Dec 2004 between SFA President, Mr. Paul Keng, and CASE President, Mr. Yeo Guat Kwang
